School Activities

Chorus - Grades 5-8 meet once a week as part of the school schedule.  The chorus performs at the Christmas and spring concerts.  All students in grades 5-8 are required to be in chorus.

Instrumental Lessons – Music lessons are provided by Paul Effman Music services. This service has been successfully providing Instrumental Music Programs to over 20 schools in the Buffalo Diocese since 2002.  Violin lessons are offered to Gr. 1-8.  Instrumental lessons are offered to Gr. 3-8. Parents are invoiced by Paul Effman Music Services.

Band/Orchestra - These groups consist of the students that are taking instrumental lessons.  Each meets once a week and perform at the Christmas and spring concerts.  Students have the opportunity to be selected for the Diocesan Honor Band and WNY ECMEA All County festivals.

Bell Choir – All Grade 8 students participate in bell choir, which meets once a week as part of the school schedule.  Bell Choir performs at the Christmas and spring concerts.

Chime Choir - Students in grades 7 meet once a week as part of the school schedule.  Chime Choir performs at the Christmas and spring concerts.

Spring Musical - Every spring upper level students may audition for the school musical.  Rehearsals are held after school in preparation for two night performances.

Science Fair - Students in grades K-8 prepare a science fair project for the annual science fair in March.  Students in grades 3-8 are impartially judged using a rubric.  Grades 6-8 may be selected to attend the Western NY Science Congress in April.  We have had 6 students selected to represent our school at the State Science Congress.

School Marathon - This event is held every October.  Students obtain pledges and then walk or run the assigned route to earn money for our school.

Student Council - Our student council is made up of students from grades 6-8 that are elected by their peers.  The council plans several fun activities and service projects throughout the year.

Mass - Students attend mass every week on Fridays and on Holy Days.  Catholic students are expected to attend mass every weekend with their families.

Catholic Schools Week - Catholic Schools Week is held the last week in January.  It begins with an opening mass at 10:30 in St. Aloysius Church in Springville.  School families are asked to attend with students in mass day attire.  Mass is followed by a celebratory breakfast in the school cafeteria.

Many school spirit activities are planned for Catholic Schools Week.

 

St. Aloysius Regional School participates in Diocesan League Sports as well as recreational sports programs dependent on student interest.
